Album Info:Here is a five-page article by Mr. Al Rung entitled "Christmas Eve on the Broadway." It was published originally in the December 1948 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 26-30. This article recounts the author's Chicago to New York journey in 1947 on one of the world's premier passenger trains: the Pennsylvania Railroad's "Broadway Limited." Mr. Rung writes that "The drab station and the sooty Civil War-era train shed at Altoona deceptively camouflage the fact that here is the home of the great spirit that nightly directs and drives the Pennsy's great east-west fleet over the rails ~ the spirit that is present in every operating department, shop, and office the length and breadth of the far-flung Pennsylvania network."
