Whiskey River Railway Day departure lineup
Title:  Whiskey River Railway Day departure lineup
Description:  The much taller 1919, clearly built to a different scale than the three older Whiskey River Railway steam locomotives despite running on the same 16" gauge track, will pull the "varnish." The others will triple-head the "freight" train, led by 4-4-2 "Gracey." Unfortunately this year's steam event was cut short by inclement weather after two hours and two circuits by each train.

Steaming back from the Whistle Stop Campground
Title:  Steaming back from the Whistle Stop Campground
Description:  Construction on an extension of the Whiskey River Railway's mainline loop commenced in 2016. The purpose was a sort of "branch line" to a small RV park which was to be established near Little Amerrika. The trains would shuttle campers to and from the amusement park. The loop opened in time for Whiskey River Railway Day 2017, but the campground didn't open until 2018.

Whiskey River 1919 chugs around the curve heading for the tunnel
Title:  Whiskey River 1919 chugs around the curve heading for the tunnel
Description:  This stretch, almost back to the station, is one of the few places where Whiskey River engineers often open up the throttle a bit, which combined with a slight upgrade generates some stack talk from the 16" gauge engines which are typically very quiet the rest of the way.

Toooooooot! Toot!
Title:  Toooooooot! Toot!
Description:  This is a popular spot to shoot this 16" gauge light railway, as they come down the back stretch on the return to the Little Amerricka park grounds. A slight uphill grade toward the tunnel makes for some stack talk from the steam locomotives, and there's always a whistle salute! The four tracks here belie the simple nature of the Whiskey River Railway's layout. Train is on the inbound main, to the right is the old outbound main (which, like the inbound main, goes through the tunnel), branching off of it is the "storage tunnel" lead (where the coaches are parked when not in use), then to the far right is the current outbound main. Trains pass through here after having gone through the Whistle Stop Campground loop (opened in 2017), then out to the farm fields before looping back to the amusement park.

No. 1919 shoves its train into the storage tunnel as "Melody Ranch Special" makes its way back from the fields
Title:  No. 1919 shoves its train into the storage tunnel as "Melody Ranch Special" makes its way back from the fields
Description:  At the conclusion of Whiskey River Railway Day 2021, the 1919 (after also picking up the two coaches which had been part of "Oakland Acorn"'s train on this day) made a "deadhead" run out through the tunnel, utilizing the now seldom-used portion of the outbound main between the switches where the campground loop branches off and then re-joins.
