ATSF 4-6-0 #137 - Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe |
| Description: |
Here is an interesting older photo of Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe 4-6-0 #137 actually dated 1880 but the RRPA database starts with 1900, hence the 1900 date. A lengthy note on the back states "1880 on Glorieta Mountain. Recalling construction days on the Santa Fe in New Mexico, the passing of a colorful era, the days known as "Baby". Photo by Ben Wittick, an old time Albuquerque photograpeher who was himself a picturesque character and wore his hair long like Buffalo Bill. Note link and pin coupler and branch pipe going under running board to pump." I could not find the builder info on this loco. If you have information on this, please leave a comment below so I can add to the description. This photo came from the Santa Fe Public Relations Department. |
