| A new face on the scene rolls through Plainview, that of GE U25B 2501. The quartet of U25B demonstrators were on loan to D&RGW. Rio Grande was not convinced as they did not buy any GE road power. The February 1962 built unit would be sold to Union Pacific in July 1962. After UP retired it in September 1972, it was sold to Morrison-Knudsen and rebuilt with EMD innards. M-K used it as a demo unit until it was sold to Oregon, California & Eastern in July 1976. |
