Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on 11 June 1950. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1098, an A-5S (0-4-0) switcher built in Juniata during November of 1917 and retired in April of 1950 after 33 years of faithful service. Note that the bell and main driving rods have been removed in preparation for movement to the Recycling Center. Williams Collection. |
