| Originally built as UP 2-8-0 #1658 by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessar) in December of 1900, this loco served the UP quite well. Originally built as a Vauclain compound steam loco but was simplified sometime between 1903-10. The loco was renumbered to UP 438 in 1915. After nearly 54 years of service, it was "vacated" by the UP (retired and scrapped) in April of 1954. Rebuilt specs - 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21x30" cylinders, engine weight of 187,891 lb, tractive effort of 39,458 lb.
