Volkmer. Here is an image of a photo by William D. Volkmer that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 18 February 1959. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9716 and an unidentified Baldwin-built "A" unit. #9716 is a BF-16 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in March of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966. This A-A set is serving as tail-end pushers for a fully-loaded mineral train that will soon pass through the New Portage Tunnel in its way down the Allegheny Mountains to the Eastbound Receiving Yard in Altoona.
