PRR 1844, G-5S, 1954
Here is an original photo by John S. Fisher that was taken in Columbus, Ohio, in November of 1954. Caption On Reverse: "Pennsy 4-6-0 at Columbus. Dead Engine. Nov. '54." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1844, a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built in Juniata during August of 1923 and retired in February of 1955 after 32 years of faithful service. It's already been stripped of its "Keystone" number plate, builder's badge, and bell ~ not to mention its pride and dignity!
