New Orleans Public Service, Inc. JACKSON LINE car 961 was inbound in the 100-block of South Rampart Street. This photo was taken shortly before the JACKSON cars were replaced gasoline-powered buses on 19 May 1947, and these were replaced with electric buses on 2 October 1947. Those trackless trolleys are long gone, but car 961 was still in service on the ST. CHARLES LINE in 2020. The Higgins Industries Building in the background was actually the PYTHIAN TEMPLE at 234 Loyola, which Higgins leased during WWII. |
