PRR 2433, AF-25, 1965
Rainy. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2433, #2239, #2362, and #2286. #2433 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2239 is an EF-22 built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2362 and #2286 are EF-25's built by EMD and rated at 2,500 horsepower each; #2362 was built in 1965, but #2286 was built in 1964. They are pulling a 99-car eastbound merchandise freight train under the 17th Street Bridge, past the Altoona Passenger Station (not shown on the right), to Enola and points East. The caboose is #477691. The westbound train on the right consists of 110 empty hopper cars, headed by engine #9808; the caboose is #477202. Also visible on the left are some of the PRR's 12th Street Shops; part of 10th Avenue is visible on the right. This photo taken from the 12th Street Bridge.
