PRR 6308, AF-27, 1965
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train between SLOPE and WORKS Towers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 06 June 1965. Shown here is PRR engine #6308, an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower. It is pushing a westbound mixed-cargo freight train that is passing under the 24th Street Bridge on its way up to the Horseshoe Curve, the tunnels at Gallitzin, and points West.
