The building behind RF 63 is the Long Island Potato Exchange, once a huge deal on the Island. As late as the 1950s, solid trains of potatoes would be sent west from Riverhead. Better roads and higher real estate values meant fewer potatoes, and most of them now go by truck. Imagine three or four C 420s and 90 cars of potatoes-what a sight!!
