JLSX 1001 - Jones & Laughlin Steel  Contributor's Pick!
As homage to my father who was the night foreman at J&L in Indianapolis and to the summers I worked there while in college, this is a Jones & Laughlin switcher from the East Chciago plant. It would have been clad in the light blue and white paint scheme. Built by Baldwin in March of 1949, it was originally ATSF #2280. Not sure how long it lasted during the steel company mergers. Anyone know? Photo is by Thomas Lawson Jr.
