BN 81 at Seattle WA
Burlington Northern SW1 81 waits for its crew before getting back to work switching cars at Seattle, Washingtons, King Street Station (the clock tower for which can be seen in the distance on the right). BN 81, originally built by EMD in January 1950 as Great Northern 81, is assigned to Amtrak service at the passenger station. Off to the right, Amtrak SDP40F 556 prepares to depart with that days Los Angeles-bound Coast Starlight. And just behind BN 81 is the Kingdome, then home to Seattles Mariners baseball team and the Seahawks football team. The Kingdome was imploded in 2000, after the Mariners new ballpark opened and to make way for the Seahawks new stadium. (Douglas G. Walker photo)
