SOO 2500
The Lake Superior Railroad Museum shipped this FP7A via BNSF & NS for a total cost of two dollars. It was built in 1949 as EMD demonstrator locomotive #7001. Soo Line bought #7001, and the other demonstrator locomotives #7002 & #7003, for its subsidiary Wisconsin Central. The 7001 was renumbered #2500-A, and #7002 & #7003 were renumbered #2500-B and #2501-B respectively. Soo donated the out of service cab to the Duluth MN based museum in 1986. The exterior was restored and repainted, and mechanical restoration was completed in the spring of 1995
