SOO 4-6-2 #2715 - Minneapolis, St Paul, Sault Sainte Marie Ry  Contributor's Pick!
Built by Alco-Schenectady in 1914 as an H-22 class Pacific, it had 75" drivers and developed a respectable boiler pressure of 200 psi for its 25"x26" cylinder diameter & stroke. The engine weight tipped the scales at 264,000 lb and it could generate a tractive effort of 36,833 lb. Seen here, it's heading up a passenger train stopped momentarily at an unknown station. The date is approximate and no photographer listed.
