CB&Q PMC 9772
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad class PMC (Passenger Motor Car) 9772 near Lincoln, Nebraska on an unknown day in February 1962, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. In tow is coach number 6000, named 'Silver Pendulum', an orphan in the Q's passenger department. It was built by Pacific Railway Equipment Company in 1942, one of three built ( the Great Northern and Santa Fe also each got one). Its suspension was as its name implies; the car would swing like a pendulum in curves similar to a Talgo train. However, this did not play well with other cars so the car spent its final years in the service pictured.

Iver Tranes General Not to nitpick, but I'm betting you meant Silver Pendulum, not Sliver. Nice photo! 3/4/2013 7:06:21 AM
