ATSF 5107
AMARILLO TX July 7 1986 -- Santa Fe SD40-2 5107 handles the lead on a westbound TOFC-COFC train with what I believe to be the welded rail plant in the background. EMD built the 5107 (s/n 786219-37) in October 1979. It was delivered in yellow warbonnet, repainted to SPSF red-yellow between July 31 1985 and July 24 1986 (pre-July 7 for sure), restored to yellow warbonnet before Jan 1 1991, rebuilt by the San Bernardino CA shops to an SD40-2u in June 1991, underwent maintenance at Morrison Knudsen in April 1994, transferred to BNSF on Sept 22 1995 upon the merger, renumbered and patched to BNSF 6766 On Jan 10 2000.
