Here is the sixth of nine successive original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6981, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Lima Locomotive Works in September of 1926 and retired in August of 1955 after 29 years of service. Note the trainphone apparatus on the tender's deck. The road numbers of the other locomotives pictured here are not recorded.
