Gregg Pullano General Where did you find this? 10/29/2005 5:06:15 PM
Tony Fernandez General Assuming that the date of the photo is essentially correct, historically, this is a photo of F3A #1454:2. It was originallly built for passenger service in Oct 1947 as UP #967A (passenger pilot, headlight & Mars lights, 36" high-sided radiator fan shrouds, wire screen dynamic brake grills on the roof, wire screen between the portholes, etc.) It was renumbered to #903 in Mar 1948, and then rebuilt by EMD to F7A specs and renumbered #1454 in Jan 1955. The original F3A #1454 had been rebuilt with the 567B/C engine and was renumbered #1509 in Dec 1950. It had a "dimpled" pilot and horizontal louvers between the portholes. 11/28/2007 6:40:51 PM

Tony Fernandez General I came upon this photo again and noticed something I'd overlooked before when commenting in 2007. The second unit is a GP-9 of the 205-244 series that came to the UP without dynamic brakes. Also note the silver painted trucks that began in 1956, in contrast to the F-unit's gray painted trucks. 1/1/2019 1:56:03 PM
