This locomotive is the second 309L, the first was built in May 1950 (c/n 9610) and was renumbered 328L in November 1952, later becoming CF7 2420. This 309L was built in December 1952 (c/n 17437) on EMD Order 6465, was leased to Amtrak between 1971-1973, rebuilt to CF7 2534 during February 1974, later becoming ECRX 2534. Number 309 is seen at Joliet on Train 1-23, the first section of The Grand Canyon, due at Joliet at 11:55 AM CST. |
