Built in November 1959 as Southern SD24 2521 (c/n 25617) on EMD Order 5606, in December 1972 renumbered to SR 6340, it was sold to Precision National Corporation in January 1978, retaining the SR road number until 1980, when it was rebuilt to SD18 (basically de-turbo-charged and dynamic brakes disabled and blisters blanked over) by Morrison-Knudsen, returning to PNC as 1840. It was leased to the BN during 1980-81, eventually sold to ICG, run through the Paducah Shops, emerging in 1982 as SD20 2036. It was retired by the IC (date unknown) and became NREX 2036. |
