L&N U23B 2800
In 1974 the L&N eliminated the yellow nose from its paint scheme, adopting the rather austere appearance modeled by the first two units on this run-through train from the SP to the L&N. One-month-old U23B 2800 arrived from the GE factory looking like this, while GP30 1052 had been recently repainted into this scheme. The other locomotives are U23B 2700 (ex-Monon 601) and GP30 1040. The train is stopped on the Southern Railway's BACK BELT at Frenchmen Street, waiting for a clear route onto the L&N at L&N Junction.
