NYC E7 4011
NYC E7 4011 at LaSalle Street Station, Chicago, Illinois, October 31, 1965, photo by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in April 1947 (c/n 4166) on EMD Order E751A, and became PC 4011. Given the long shadows, according to the June 1965 issue of the Official Guide, this train could be either: Train #28, the New England States, or Train #2, The Pacemaker, (both were scheduled to leave LaSalle Street at 3:00 PM CST), or perhaps Train #26, the Twentieth Century Limited, scheduled to leave at 3:30 PM CST, or Train #304, The James Whitcomb Riley, scheduled to leave at 4:00 PM CST, or Train #356, The Twilight Limited, scheduled to leave at 4:15 CST. I failed to note which train on the slide.

Joseph Yarbrough General I always loved the NYC "cigar band" paint scheme. Classic image from a time when railroads were interesting. Thanks for sharing Chuck. 5/2/2009 8:35:40 AM
