Title:  PC 4278, E-8A, 1968
Description:  Birmingham. Here is an original photo that I took of a Penn Central Railroad train near Union Furnace, Pennsylvania, during May of 1968. Shown here (R to L) are PC engines #4278 and another unit whose number is not recorded. Both are E-8A's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #4278 was built in September of 1952; its original Pennsylvania Railroad number was "5708." They are pulling a six-car eastbound passenger train from Pittsburgh to Huntingdon, Lewistown, and Harrisburg. This photo was taken where the tracks bridge the Little Juniata River west of the stone quarry crossing, just off of State Route 453.

Description:  PC Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Lima, Ohio, during September of 1970. Shown here (R to L) are Penn Central Railroad engines #4284 and an E-7A whose number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD. #4284 is an E-8A built for the Pennsylvania Railroad as number "5884" in March of 1950, rated at 2,250 horsepower, and renumbered "4284" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. Overall, this is a pretty pathetic scene at a once-vibrant location. Produced and distributed by Northwest Rail Images of Eugene, Oregon. ("LouisFols" A; #2 of 2)

Description:  Nice grouping of power in this unidentified yard. PC #4292 is ex-PRR #5892 built by EMD in April of 1950. Behind it is PC #4209 wihiich is ex-PRR E7A #5849 built by EMD in August of 1947. Finally, next to PC #4292 is PC #4027 which is ex-NYC E7A #4027 built by EMD in February of 1948. Actual date, location and photographer are unknown. With Tom Beckett's help (see comment below), the location appears to be Chicago near the LaSalle Street station.
