CP 4-4-4 #3003 - Canadian Pacific |
Description: |
Definitely the locomotive style that influenced the Marx toy company to produce their Canadian Pacific #3000 locomotive altough it was a 2-4-0 model instead of the 4-4-4 configuration of its prototype. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in August of 1938, the loco was a beautiful sight at the head of many passenger trains through the years. It was eventually retired in March of 1957. Specs - Serial #68725, F-2a class, 80" drivers, impressive 300 psi boiler pressure, 17.25x28" cylinders, engine weight of 263,000 lb, tractive effort of 26,557 lb. J.R Quinn photo |

CP 4-4-4 #3004 - Canadian Pacific |
Description: |
Here is a strikingly beautiful example of a Jubilee-type 4-4-4 steam locomotive built by the Milwaukee Locomotive Works in 1936. It is no surprise that the Louis Marx toy company used this style loco when designing their popular semi-streamlined Canadian Pacific steam locomotives. This F2a class of locomoitves held the Canadian record for speed set at 112.5 mph. in its heyday. The photographic credit listed as Theo. A Gay. |
