Central RR of New Jersey 2-8-0 camelback #662 was built by Alco-Brooks in January of 1905 as a class 650 member. It was rebuilt in September of 1915 as an I5s class at CNJ's Elizabethport Shops. The loco was rebuilt again in July of 1923 by Baldwin and reclassified as I6as class. After nearly 36 years of service. the loco was sold for scrap in October of 1940. No photographer was listed for the photo. |

Built by Alco-Brooks in March of 1906 (serial #39436), this 2-8-0 camelback had 61" drivers and 21x32" cylinders. The loco was reclassified as class I4 in 1919 and then rebuilt at Elizabethport, NJ in September of 1921 with a new classification of I4s It was again reclassified in 1945 as C39 just 2 years before being sold for scrap in June of 1951. This beefy looking 2-8-0 camelback was caught sitting with its steam up in the Phillipsburg, NJ yard. This 2-8-0 camelback was built by Alco-Brooks in March of 1906 as Central RR of New Jersey #681, part of the 675 class. In 1919 I was reclassified as I4 class. In August of1921 it was rebuilt to class I4s at Alco Schenectady Shops. It was again reclassified as class C39 in 1945. After nearly 46 years of dedicated service, the loco was sold for scrap in May of 1952. This is a Jacques M. Singer photo. |
