Here is the Association of American Railroads' stock photo #722. Caption On Reverse: "Pennsylvania Railroad refugee train ready to leave Jeffersonville, Ind., for Indianapolis with hundreds of refugees. The cars were backed down to the water's edge, where the refugees boarded the trains from the rescue boats." The flood proper took place in the last days of January, 1937. This was one of 2 experimental Pacifics built for the Pennsylvania to test various components. #5698 was the product of the PRR's own Juniata Shops in April of 1929. Specs - K-5 class, piston valves, Walschaert valve gear and a one piece, cast steel frame, 80" drivers, 250 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, eingine weight of 327,560 lb, tractive effort of 54,675 lb.#5698 was dropped from the roster in October, 1952.
