This interesting little side tank 0-4-0 loco, CNJ #840, was built by Baldwin in 1907. It started out serving at the Bronx Terminal until 1925. It was removed from there after the Kaufman Act of 1923 was passed that banned steam locos from working with the city confines. It worked at the Communipaw Shops for a number of years. . It's final disposition is currently unknown but most likely scrapped after 1950.. Original specs from back of photo - 45" drivers, 170 psi boiler pressure, 17x24" cylinders, modest engine weight of 91,500 lb and modest tractive effort of 22,272 lb.
