Built by Baldwin in September of 1903 as a compound 2-10-2, ATSF #917 was later rebuilt and simplified in July of 1918 at La Junta Shops. The loco continued on in serivce until being finally sold for scrap to the M. S. Kaplan Company on 1/4/1956.
