BO 4-4-2 #1484 - Baltimore & Ohio |
Description: |
Nice action shot with a crew member posing in front of Baltimore & Ohio 4-4-2 Atlantic type steam locomotive #1484. This loco was built by Alco-Schenectady in April of 1904 originally as Buffalo & Susquehanna 4-4-2 #174. In 1907, it was renumbered B&S #274. When the B&S was absorbed into the Baltimore & Ohio system in 1932 it was renumbered again to B&O #1484. The loco lasted until beomg scrapped at the Mt Clare yards in 1946. Specs - 69" drivers, 195 psi boiler pressure, 19x26" cylinders, engine wt of 150,800 and modest tractive effort of 22,600 lb. This is a Max Miller photo. |
