Undecorated
Title:  Undecorated
Description:  Athearn didn't know what they were starting when they offered their locomotive models unpainted as well as in typical road names. The prototype railroads got in on the act too. Here in a scene where life imitates art, a new NS SD70M-2 in primer leads 412 south out of Binghamton. It will get painted at either Altoona or Chattanooga as it comes in for service.

Solid dual flags
Title:  Solid dual flags
Description:  The "dual flag" scheme CP instituted shortly after taking over the D&H was slowly applied, and it took a long time for a significant number of units to get it. For a long time it was unusual to see even a pair of units in that scheme. Here, train 413 departs Binghamton with a solid set of four.

Interesting power
Title:  Interesting power
Description:  SD40 types?? Really?? This train has two that are interesting to CP fans. The middle unit is the obvious one, an SD40-2F "red barn". The lead unit is one of the six acquired from the KCS, repainted and renumbered in the 5400s. The trailing unit?? Just run of the mill 40-2. The train is coming off the Susquehanna River bridge and about to cross under Conklin Av and enter East Binghamton yard.

Have a holly jolly
Title:  Have a holly jolly
Description:  The CP Holiday train is at East Binghamton. This is one of the more festive days in town, with CP rolling their specially decorated train in for a public concert. Admission is a bag of non perishable groceries, which go to local charity. Its a well attended event, even in the cold. The temperature for this nights visit was around 10 degrees.

12T
Title:  12T
Description:  One of the two NS trackage rights trains to run on CP south of Binghamton, 12T, rolls 52 cars through the north end of East Binghamton behind the usual home road power, and a western visitor in the form of an H1 BNSF unit. While the other train pair, 30 and 31T got CN power routinely, 12 and 13T could get anything, and it was not uncommon to see UP and BNSF power, but others as well. I have seen Wisconsin Central and Montana Rail Link units on these trains.

GEs to the yard
Title:  GEs to the yard
Description:  After holding out for a very long time, CP finally started sending GEs to the D&H, probably becuase the number of serviceable SD40 types had dwindled to the point where they couldnt cover all the trains. We see 252 arriving off the Susquehanna River bridge, about to cross under Conklin Rd and enter East Binghamton yard with 76 cars.

Lease power
Title:  Lease power
Description:  Most of the time, CP train got home road power. Occasionally one of the lease units would show up, such as this GE from CEFX. This one is trailing on 34T as it rolls under Conklin Av entering East Binghamton yard. The complex of buildings on the hill above the unit is the Binghamton Psychiatric Center, a common sight in photos from this end of town.

Finally, GEs
Title:  Finally, GEs
Description:  CP had been acquiring GE units in increasing numbers by 2006, but they were few and far between on this part of the railroad. Someone in Montreal must have had a change of heart, or perhaps enough of the relics that ran on the D&H had failed that there was no choice, but we finally started to see them in Binghamton. Here a pair is coming in with a whopping 32 cars of 34T.
