Description:  The bridge seemed to be removed with intents that it could be later restored if needed, all rails are still intact, and the center metal span is still on the ground to the left (out of the picture) with rails still in place.

Description:  I must say impressed with this new development, they managed to keep the industrial nature of the area intact and even left the abanoned railraod ROW's, now i just hope no one tries to make any no horn ordinances because of all these new developments.

Description:  Derails protect the CofG - SAL diamond since the signals were removed. The long ties on the right were for a dead end siding that ended at the North Ave bridge.

Title:  Cut and Hill track switch removed
Description:  The Cut track used to be the interchange track between NS and CSX, when NS sold the line to the Athens Line RR, the interchange was stopped, for a few years more the track was used to store power laying over for the night. Eventually CSX decided it was not worth the money to keep the switch in and power is now stored at Pulaski Street.

Title:  Ultra overgrown Hill track
Description:  The Hill Track used to be SAL's access to the vast downtown industrial district, by the late 80's it was down to a single customer, the Athens Hardware store. Several years after they gave up rail service the Hill track bridge was removed, after that the track was used for power storage until the switch was cut a few years ago, the track is now isolated and unused.

Description:  Just a year ago this engine was chugging around town hauling cars for the Athens Line railroad, now it sits forlorn among the tall grass, coupled unceremoniously between some boxcars. Lets hope this is just temporary and not the end for one of the last Chessie painted units.

Description:  This spur onced formed a wye with the Georgia railroad tracks by Oneta street, in recent years it has served as storage, now CSX is removing it and simplifying the track layout so there is one less switch to maintain.
