Album Info:With OHCR 4023 still in town, I made my way over to Lima in hopes of possibly shooting the engine on the Lima B Job. But as it is with every time I try to photograph a cool engine on this train, it didn't end up running on it. But in the end, I still got some nice stuff. Enjoy!

Description:  A free day off of work and OHCR 4023 is in town? You know whats in store! I made the drive over to Lima in hopes of catching OHCR 4023 FINALLY leading a train somewhere outside of Lima on the Lima B Local Job. I was both relieved and not to find that the engine was still in the yard, but with as late as I arrived my hopes of it being on the Lima B job were beginning to fade. They were working when I arrived so I decided to go and find some other stuff to do. Over at Cole Street the CFE transfer job to CSX was working with a quartet of orange engines.

Description:  Back over at NS Tower, NS L73 comes onto the CSX Toledo Sub and heads to Ford Park Yard with some cars for the IORY.

Title:  CSX 3302
Description:  I knew I had something else coming south on CSX so I decided to tuck myself away at DT&I Jct. and catch the train splitting the CPLs there. After about 10 minutes of waiting, CSX K596 came south splitting the classic B&O signals. Man I wish this train still ran with SD40s.

Title:  OHCR 4023
Description:  And just like that the trip was a dud. The crew that was on OHCR 4023 tied the unit down and went back into the yard office, which was a sure sign that it was being used as the yard job power today. I decided to grab one photo of it anyway for the heck of it. I was going to head home after this but I knew since this was the only engine in the yard that both the LNL and the Lima B were still out there somewhere, so I decided to drive around a little more.

Description:  I drove down Lutz Road right near DT&I Jct and noticed a yellow signal to my right. I looked to my left and about crapped myself when I saw the distinctive red paint of a Railtex Red SD40-2 heading my direction. I had found the LNL!

Description:  Even though it was virtually the same consist as the one Gavin and I shot a couple weeks back, it still is amazing to see something not orange leading a train. Here the LNL crosses over the Sugar Creek back on home rails.

Sunrise Switcher
Title:  Sunrise Switcher
Description:  With the LNL back in town and CSX deader than a doorknob, I went south to see if I could find the Lima B. I checked Sunrise Coop in Uniopolis first. While I didnt find the Lima B working here, I did find their centercab switcher loading some cars, which was really neat in itself.

Description:  Made it all the way south to Jackson Center and finally found the Lima B finishing up work at Plastipak. Cant be too upset that the Ohio Central engine wasnt on the local now. Two red leaders in a day certainly made this wasted trip out here quite a bit better.

Description:  Closer shot. The train went south to work the fertilizer depot on the south side of Jackson Center, and the LSL received a warrant south from Ford Park to Jackson Center, so I decided to go north and try to catch the LSL a final time before calling it an early day.

Description:  One shot I had been wanting to get recently was a shot from the US 33 (at Saint Johns) overpass. This ended up being the perfect opportunity. After what seemed like hours waiting (with a train only hitting 25 MPH max what can I expect?) the LSL roared south through Saint Johns with the LNL consist.

CSX 4548
Title:  CSX 4548
Description:  I went back north into Lima to grab US 30 and head back toward home. Chatter came over the radio, however, so I decided to stop on the south side of Lima. Sure enough, the signals at Eureka were green for a northbound, and CSX J782, which had recently been reactivated, rolled north with a pair of widecab engines. This train was usually dominated by standard cabs, but this particular pair of widecabs is perfectly okay in my book.

Title:  RJCR 1203
Description:  I decided to roll over to Spencerville to see if anything had changed on the Cormans portion of their railroad over in that direction since I last visited. Not too much of a difference other than the engine had clearly been moved back some. After that I made my way home. Didnt get what I expected, but I am happy with what I did end up getting. One day Ill get a decent chase out of the good looking OHCR unit!
