Description:  Back in June of 1987, this beautiful Nickel Plate road 2-8-4 Berkshire #763 was an outside display at the Virginia Museum of Transportation. In 2007, Jerry Jacobson purchased the loco for his new Age of Steam Roundhouse where it is today. An unknown photographer captured the moment.

US Canal Mule #686 - US Panama Canal
Title:  US Canal Mule #686 - US Panama Canal
Description:  One of a very few Panama Canal mules on display. The locks "mule" was built by GE in Schenectady, NY in 1914 and worked until retirment in 1964.The mule was a "Pacific Locks Mule which operated at the west end of the canal. It is 32' long, 8' wide, and weighs 42 tons with a wheelbase of 12 feet and operates on a track gauge of 5 feet. It was powered by a three-phase, 220-volt, 25-cycle motor geared to traction equipment. The towing capacity of the complete unit was 25,000 pounds. An unknown rail fan caught this mule as one of the outside exhibits at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in June of 1987.

Title:  VGN 0-8-0 #4 - Virginian
Description:  An appropriate loco for the Virginia Museum of Transportation is this Virginian 0-8-0 yard goat as an outside display back in June of 1987. Built by Baldiwn in August of 1910 (serial #35034), the loco is still at the Museum but now housed in a more protected shelter than it was in 1987. An unknown photographer took this photo.
