CN 2-8-0 #2514 - Canadian National |
Description: |
Beautiful action shot of CN #2514 heading up a long string of varnish. Long before a Dash 9 loco wore the number 2514 for CN, this Montreal Locomotive Works 2-8-0 did. The loco was originally built as Canadian Government Rwy #2514 but renumbered about a year later in 1919 as CN 2514. Specs - serial #59461, class N-2-b. The loco was scrapped in June of 1961. G.W. CN 2-8-0 #1874 - Canadian National |
Description: |
Sad sight to see this 2-8-0 Consolidation sitting in the CN scrap line. Built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in 1903 as an IGR locomotive (unknown number). In 1913, it was renumbered CGR #74 and later renumbered CN 1874 in 1919. Its serial number was 541 and class M-4-f. The loco was finally retired and scrapped in June if 1939. This may very well be the last photo that was taken of it before the scrapper's torch. No photographer, location or exact date was given for the photo. |
