It was issued originally during July of 1949. "This booklet illustrates and briefly describes representative locomotives used in passenger and in freight service. It depicts the wide range of the latest type of motive power installed by the Pennsylvania to provide modern transportation service for the traveling public, industry, business, and agriculture." Depicted here (R to L) is PRR engine #5755 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are AP-20's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5755 was constructed in November of 1947 as an AP-20, regeared and reclassified as an AFP-20, and retired in September of 1962 after just 15 years of revenue service.

Depicted here (R to L) is PRR engine #5824 and another "Centipede" whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as 3,000 horsepower BP-60's for passenger service, but later regeared and downgraded to 2,500 horsepower BP-50's for freight and helper service. #5824 was built in April of 1947 and retired in April of 1962 after just 15 years of revenue service.
