Album Info:	Canadian Pacific East Region / Freight Subdivision MP 556 - Oneonta Yard Oneonta, New York, US 27 October 2014 - 17:15 EST CP 7304 [GP38-2] Delaware & Hudson Livery Damn if it ain't nice to ask permission, get it, AND have crews this friendly! So, I'm sick as a goat, heads all stuffy, sneezing and on my way back from a doctors appointment in Cooperstown. Naturally, I have the scanner hooked up in the 'Burb and my camera with (Don't leave home without it!), but had no intention of chasing today. As I get closer to Oneonta, I start to hear the South Dispatcher talking to someone. Then I hear "CP 7304" and "work train" and "Oneonta Yard". Well, stuffy head and sinuses be damned, I'm going 'fannin'! I pull into Oneonta Yard, right up to the end of Fonda Avenue but well outside the CP Rail no trespassing posters, and sure enough there is 7304 in her well worn D&H Lightning Stripe Livery backing into the yard spurs. The crew gives a friendly wave, so I hop out of the truck and start taking pictures. With the setting sun right in line with the locomotive, it was less than optimal conditions (along with my sneezing) . After throwing some switches, 7304 backed into the MOW track area by where the old D&H Oneonta Roundhouse was. Along comes a foreman to lockout / tagout the turnout to the main, and I motion I would like to talk to him. He drives to where I'm standing and we recognize each other. I ask him that I would to photograph the train from closer, but didn't want to do it without asking permission. He says "Sure! No problem! You got a high visibility vest on", but he added jokingly, he wasn't going to help me change a flat tire on my truck if I got a spike in it from driving in!" Chuckling, I replied, "I promise, I won't hold you accountable.." He said to drive up the access road and be careful park well back from where they were working and walk up the rest of the way to where the crew was working.. We laughed, and he drive in and I followed.
